The 3rd Annual British Connection Beach Party
This was quite a blast as per usual. Thanks to all who reached despite the threat of inclement weather, just like back in the day in the U.K. when neither the possibility or actual rain could stop the party (or carnival) and people would just reach, more than likely by public transport or as a 'trodder'. Yes, them times, most of us never had access to our own wheels but we knew that the weather wasn't going to cause a cancellation of any session and like true soldiers - we just made our way and reached!
Many of the British now residing in Florida, even the younger ones who have only recently arrived, have adopted the Floridian way and embraced the retirement mentality so it doesn't usually go like that anymore!
Anyway, the day was nice with contributions of food & drinks from some of the revelers and a Black English style of musical selection from several DJ's on the day which included "Selector Tony" from the London Connection (WAVS 1170 AM) with an outstanding yesteryear "ROOTS" set. It was just a shame that we had to keep the music playing at such a low level that the total impact of was not felt.
A big thank you to MARCIA BALL (Marcia Griffiths backing vocalist) for giving us a live PA with the Lovers Rock vibes. Absolutely splendid! We look forward to hearing some more from here and we'll keep you informed about her future performances and publications here on FameKaraoke.com.
As the Urban British Connection Network in South Florida grows, talk about our follow-up event has already started, so be sure to watch this space for details. A huge welcome goes out to the first timers who came from as far the counties adjacent to Broward, to experience the fun and enjoyment. Be sure to keep in touch and get involved with keeping the vibes alive, spread the word (to the non-Brits as well) and continue to show support for each and every one of us.
Finally, the most love and gratitude goes out to all involved for all of the hard work that goes on to put such events together.
